Empowering & Equipping Early Stage Entrepreneurs

Philly Startup Week is a five-day, entrepreneur-led, community-run event that showcases the local startup ecosystem. The event features a range of activities, from meetups and lectures to discussions, all aimed at strengthening the regional startup ecosystem. It's part of a global initiative held in cities worldwide to connect entrepreneurs at various stages, from ideation to IPO.

Role: Co-Founder, Communications Lead, Programming Director for Philly Startup Week.

Target Audience: Black and Brown startup leaders, individuals new to the startup space, first-time founders and those interested in founder growth, social impact, diversity, and inclusion.

Responsibilities:

  • Spearheaded all major components of the brand.

  • Designed a week of diverse programming.

  • Created a blueprint for subsequent Philly Startup Weeks.

  • Developed and executed the communications strategy.

  • Oversaw brand strategy and press outreach.

  • Designed experiential and event marketing strategies.

Outcomes:

  • Attracted over 1,000 attendees to Philly Startup Week.

  • Established the blueprint for future Philly Startup Weeks in collaboration with Techstars.

  • Secured press coverage in local news outlets.

  • Hosted renowned entrepreneurs like millionaire Abu Fofanah (Power Your Launch), and Forbes 30under30 Alum Dave Silver (Rec Philly).

  • Secured sponsorships from major brands like SalesForce, WeWork, Faber, and NSF: America's Seed Fund.

  • Boosted brand awareness around the initiative.

  • Equipped over 500 local entrepreneurs with the resources and tools essential for their entrepreneurial journey.
